about

This is the most personal song on the album. When I started writing it years ago I didn't have the concept that I would one day release an album about gardens. But I knew as that concept was brewing in the summer of 2018 that I had to include this song.
This song is about the beginning of my journey as a parent. I was glad to put this track in the middle of the album. The beginning belongs in the middle in this case. Closest to the heart, I've carried the seeds of this song with me all my adult life. I wanted to keep it closest to the central message of the album, right in the middle where the heart of the album is.
We are all plants. And some of us, we are transplanted.

lyrics

In another time
He would know he’s mine
For a week’s short time I could read the signs
Sunlight to grow and water

My voice alone would soften his heavy cries
It would cool his stingin’ eyes to recognize me
Because he was mine

This is my induction, whoa
This is not a garden that I know how to grow
To show my love, let him go

Somewhere somewhere buried or it’s planted
Somewhere somewhere buried or it’s planted
My name was signed

This is my induction, whoa
This is not a garden that I know how to grow
To show my love, let him go

I dream of the day years away
I’m tending my affairs, plucking my gray hairs
And a car pulls up the driveway, hmmm

Deja vu, who are you?
Deja vu, who are you?
He says “I want know that too”

This is my induction, whoa
This is not a garden that I know how to grow
To show my love, let him go

Louise Kelly Downers Grove, Illinois

Timeless. Soulful. Emotional. Colorful. Mother Nature infuses the music of Louise Kelly with the songs of birds and prairie breezes. Rooted and rising in Illinois, watered by the sounds from a cloud of Stevie Wonder, Emily King, James Blake, Chopin, Lake Street Dive, Led Zeppelin. Not hiding it under a bushel (no!) Music is light. Listen for the sunshine. And shine on, you crazy diamond. ... more
